From the Archives, 1982: VFL fury as ‘inferior’ WA side thrashed

Forty years ago, VFL chief Allen Aylett blasted WA’s Swan Districts Football Club for sending an “inferior team” to Melbourne to compete in the quarter-finals of the Escort Championships. Richmond won the match by a record 186 points while Swan Districts faced a two-year ban.
