Mobile ad report boosts Facebook stock 2%
Facebook Inc. rose more than 2 percent after a research report said the company is showing signs of success in a push to make money from mobile users. Facebook has come under pressure from investors to demonstrate that it can wring sales from advertisers seeking to reach people who socialize on mobile devices. Ads on smartphones and other handheld electronics tend to be less lucrative than those delivered to a desktop audience. The ads, designed to drive downloads of software applications on mobile devices, were first rolled out to a limited number of partners in August.
