Jaxport’s Mile Point problem closer to a fix

A project to improve dangerous crosscurrents in Jacksonville’s shipping channel is on hold until Congress passes a major waterways bill normally used to authorize such work. But this week, port officials moved ahead with a backup plan. The U.S. Maritime Administration has agreed to work with the Army Corps of Engineers to fix Mile Point, said Eric Green, port senior director, Government and External Affairs.
