Betting: Nothing to split Chelsea and Tottenham at Wembley

City A.M. Thursday, 20 April 2017
Betting: Nothing to split Chelsea and Tottenham at WembleyThere are some games across the football season that you just can’t help but be excited about.

A pair of fierce rivals, who happen to be the best two teams in the country, going head-to-head at Wembley for a place in the FA Cup Final – it doesn’t get much better than that.

Chelsea face Tottenham on Saturday in a match that both will desperately want to win, and could also have a big impact on the Premier League title race.

Antonio Conte’s Blues were 12 points clear as little as two months ago, with the remaining weeks of the season seemingly a formality as the trophy looked headed for Stamford Bridge.

However, two defeats in their last four – and Tottenham’s relentless winning streak, has suddenly made it a lot more interesting.

Nerves were evident in a 2-0 reverse to Manchester United last weekend, and after appearing nailed-on for the double, Conte now faces the prospect of leaving his first season in England empty-handed.

That run of victories from Spurs, now up to eight in a row in all competitions, has fans dreaming of a first title since 1961.

Tottenham are certainly the form team here – they’ve won their last two games 4-0, and have arguably both the best attack, and defence around.

A brace from Dele Alli sealed victory over Chelsea in January, and the same would swing momentum firmly their way – as well as putting them in the cup final, of course.

As poor as Chelsea were at Old Trafford, I can’t see them playing so badly again, especially in a game of this magnitude.

Either Eden Hazard or N’Golo Kante would be worthy winners of the PFA Player of the Year award, and there are fascinating battles across the pitch.

These teams are so evenly matched, and with so much at stake, I can see this being a nervy one.

I’m backing the draw after 90 minutes at 12/5 with 188BET.

Cup semi-finals are often low scorers, and these two have pride in their defences, despite their attacking talents.

Sell total goals at 2.4 with Sporting Index.
