U.S. mortgage rates reverse course and rise

After weeks of declines, U.S. mortgages rates rose this week, according to Freddie Mac. The 30-year fixed mortgage averaged 3.91 percent for the week ending June 15, up from 3.89 percent the previous week. A year ago, mortgage rates stood at 3.54 percent. Favorable mortgage rates have helped propel U.S. home sales and the refinance market. “The 30-year mortgage rate rose 2 basis points over the week to 3.91 percent,” said Sean Becketti, chief economist at Freddie Mac. “However, our survey…
