Hollywood superstar Harrison Ford was airlifted to hospital after he was injured while filming the next Star Wars instalment
LONDON, United Kingdom -- Currently filming the new Star Wars Episode VII sequel, Hollywood actor Harrison Ford had to find the force wasn't with him when a door of a spacecraft from the film fell onto him on the set at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, England.
It is understood the 71-year-old actor, who starred as Han Solo in the original three Star Wars films, broke his ankle during the accident. He was airlifted to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford early Thursday evening.
Star Wars franchise owner Disney explained in a statement: "Harrison Ford sustained an ankle injury during filming today on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII," adding: "He was taken to a local hospital and is receiving care. Shooting will continue as planned while he recuperates."
Ford is one of several original Star Wars stars returning to the J J Abrams-directed sequel, along with fellow alumni Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Peter Mayhew. Star Wars: Episode VII is scheduled for release on December 18, 2015.
