Six.. Interesting.. Movie Choices You Could Make This Summerby

We’ve already had a look at some of the movies we think are going to be well worth your box office money in the coming months – however, there are a few films on the way which are really dividing taste and opinion. Let’s take a look at some of the more controversial releases this summer which could, in our opinion, go either way.

Cars 3
Pixar generally can do no wrong – however, with the release of Cars 2, they hit a rare critical miss, and the announcement of Cars 3 was met with some concern – however, the studio has promised a Cars movie with a difference, and it will certainly need to work hard to resurrect Lightning McQueen and Mater from their lackluster second outing.

Transformers: The Last Knight
With no end seemingly in sight for Michael Bay’s explosive toy-on-toy combat, Transformers 5 is on the way to millions of adoring fans – despite the franchise largely feeling the wrath of critical opinion over the years. Will this one break the mould and offer something ground-breaking? Who’s to say?

Despicable Me 3
The franchise that arguably made Illumination an animation studio to reckon with – Gru, his girls and those Minions are back again, in a third adventure that will do well to follow up a very solid second installment – but Gru be able to escape the shadow of those all-pervasive yellow creatures?

The Emoji Movie
What can you say about an animated movie based around tiny graphics you can send each other via smartphone? Patrick Stewart voices an anthropomorphic pile of poop. Moving on!

The Nut Job 2
Surprisingly, this list is crammed with animations – and it’s even more surprising to hear that The Nut Job is getting a sequel that’s heading to theaters – particularly after it was appallingly received. Will the sequel break new mould? Its subtitle is ‘Nutty By Nature’. The jury is out.

It
Not much has been said about this Stephen King remake in the press apart from the look of Pennywise the Clown – but this is a movie that is going to need to offer more than just a sinister clown beneath the city drains to be able to spook 2017’s audiences. Will any remake of It ever overwrite Tim Curry’s deliciously bizarre performance in the TV movie original? While we hope it’s worth seeing – we hope the original still holds up.
