In wake of fire, Wine Country rallies around Napa Valley Film Fest

SFGate Monday, 6 November 2017 ()
Before going to bed on the night of Oct. 8, Marc and Brenda Lhormer felt great about the upcoming Napa Valley Film Festival: All the events and movies were pretty much locked down, and things were organized. But within hours deadly fires began raging through the Wine Country, and the Lhormers weren’t even sure about the fate of their beloved festival team members, let alone the event itself. “We all woke up — everyone had to leave or be ready to leave,” said Brenda Lhormer, who founded the festival with her husband in 2011. “The first question was: ‘Is everyone on the team OK?’ At first, we couldn’t find them. We were wildly texting. It was heart-wrenching.
