Theresa May Sets March 29 For Article 50 Brexit To BeginBritish leaders have set next Wednesday, March 29, as the day to officially notify the European Union Britain is leaving the group, BBC News reported Monday. Prime Minister Theresa May said she would write a letter to the European Council disclosing the triggering of Article 50 – stating Britain intends to leave the EU – and declaring UK terms of exit and future relations to begin as quickly as possible, the report said. The move comes nine months after a referendum in which the UK voted to leave by a margin of 51.9% to 48.1%. BBC News reported an EU spokesman was “ready and waiting” for the letter.
