Dozens Killed At Afghanistan Military Base in Taliban AttackMore than 50 were killed and wounded in an ambush attack when Taliban gunmen disguised in Afghan army uniforms made their way past checkpoints to attack a military base on Friday, according to Reuters. Afghan officials were unsure about the exact number of casualties in the incident as the Afghan government remains locked in a war against Taliban insurgents and other militant groups. The attack was near a mosque on the base just as soldiers were departing from prayers in Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of the Balkh province, according to Army spokesman Nasratullah Jamshidi.
