Police Officer Says Life Sentence For Acid Attack Offenders Is A 'Knee-Jerk' ReactionAccording to a senior Metropolitan police officer, the U.K. government’s request for new legislation ordering harsher penalties for acid attack offenders is a “knee-jerk” reaction and will provide no sustainable solution, The Independent reported. The chief superintendent – who requested anonymity – told The Independent “tough talk” about life sentencing will not reduce violent offenses and instead focus should be on root causes that explain why suspects commit these crimes.
