COP23: Thousands protest German coal use ahead of UN Climate Change Conference in Bonn
Saturday, 4 November 2017 () More than 11,000 demonstrators in Bonn have called for the abolition of coal-fired power, two days before the city hosts the UN climate change conference. Protesters directed their ire at Germany’s next government.
Thousands of people have gathered in the German city of Bonn ahead of next week’s Cop23 conference, which ratifies the Paris climate deal.
The protesters are calling for the measures set out in the accord to be implemented faster; namely a move away from coal to renewable resources.
