Romney meets with RNC leaders, campaign finance reports due, plus more to watch for this weekend in politics

Mitt Romney speaks in Scottsdale, Ariz., on Friday at the Republican National Committee meeting of state party chairmen. He also is meeting privately with RNC members before the speech. Romney has picked up the backing of senior GOP figures this week, including House Speaker John Boehner and Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, but there might be some in the grassroots crowd at the Scottsdale gathering he needs to win over. Campaign finance reports for March are due Friday to the Federal Election Commission. It will be the first gauge since Super Tuesday of how much money candidates are raking in and where the money is coming from. The Obama campaign already has reported it and the Democratic Party raised $53 million in March. Romney also will do some campaigning Friday in Arizona. Newt Gingrich will be stumping in Buffalo, N.Y., and Ron Paul will be busy politicking in Pennsylvania. Over the weekend, Gingrich will be in Delaware and Paul still will...
