Chicago, IL (PRWEB) April 25, 2012
In partnership with online learning pioneer EmbanetCompass, Wake Forest University announces the launch of its first online degree programs – the online Master of Arts in Counseling and online Master of Arts in Human Services. These programs prepare students for rewarding careers in clinical mental health and school counseling, as well as nonprofit and human services administration. Starting in fall 2012, more students will have the opportunity to learn from some of the most recognized scholars and professional leaders in the counseling profession and be a part of one of the world’s most well-respected masters-level counseling programs.
“According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, job opportunities for qualified counselors are expected to exceed the number of graduates from counseling programs,” said Dr. Donna Henderson, professor of counseling, Wake Forest University. “In this time of increased need, we’re pleased to extend our masters programs through these online programs.”
Online learning pioneer EmbanetCompass is Wake Forest University’s partner in developing these distinguished programs tailored for working professionals looking to serve the needs of their communities and foster the well being of society. “We’re always looking for new ways to share our deep knowledge and passion for higher education,” said Stephen Fireng, Chief Executive Officer and President, EmbanetCompass. “We’re proud to partner with Wake Forest University to create new opportunities for interested and deserving students.”
The online Master of Arts in Counseling can be completed in 60 credit hours of rigorous online study, while the online Master of Arts in Human Services can be completed in 39 credit hours.
Accredited by the Council of Accreditation for Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the Commission on Colleges (COC) of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), the Wake Forest online Master of Arts in Counseling program allows its graduates to become eligible to take the National Counselor Examination for Licensure and Certification (NCE) which leads to certification as a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). Graduates of the online Master of Arts in Human Services program are eligible for the Human Services-Board Certified Practitioner (HS-BSP) credential.
Applications are now being accepted, with the inaugural online class starting in August. For more information about these online counseling programs, visit us at http://counseling.online.wfu.edu/.
