New York, NY (PRWEB) May 14, 2012
Every woman has them. They give nourishment to our children and are a source of beauty and pride for many women. Breasts are miraculous creations, but often the discussion on breasts health, both in traditional and social media, carries a negative connotation, usually surrounding breast cancer or pornography.
America’s premier expert in social media medicine, Dr. Veronica is a hosting a #ilovebreasts tweetchat LIVE Friday May 11, from 4 p.m. - 5 p.m EST. Participants are encouraged to continue the discussion throughout the weekend and on Mother's Day. The goal is to discuss breast health using the hashtag #ilovebreasts. In honor of this inaugural celebration, Dr. Veronica is also launching the site ilovebreasts.org, a site dedicated to women’s breast health and in appreciation of breasts everywhere.
“Through social media medicine, we are particularly reaching out to men to talk about what they appreciate about breasts and breasts health on this Mother’s Day weekend” Dr. Veronica said. “We want to hear from men that not only appreciate breasts in a sexual context, but also in deference to their mother’s nourishment and the pleasure that breasts bring to them in other areas of their life.”
The tweetchat and ilovebreasts.org, as means of social media medicine, are meant to open a dialogue about breasts as a healthy sign for women and a form of living art, and not just breast cancer. Everyone thinks about breasts, so Dr. Veronica felt Mother’s Day would be the perfect time to launch ilovebreasts.org in conjuction with the tweetchat.
Too often in the media, the discourse about breasts pertains to breast cancer or pornography. Dr. Veronica believes we can use social media medicine to focus on the positive associations with overall breast health with the ultimate goal of prevention and wellness. “Breasts are beautiful and a representation of womanhood, we know that breast cancer exists and that there are other serious diseases of the breasts. We want the Mother’s Day tweetchat to be light and fun, yet informative; this is why we chose to use the hashtag #ilovebreasts,” Dr. Veronica said.
