The 25-year-old, who has claimed 18 knock-outs in his 27-fight career, had to make do with a unanimous points victory over Hatton as he delighted his home-town crowd at the Motorpoint Arena, to add the IBF International welterweight title to his WBA Inter-Continental crown.‘Of course I want Khan,' he said afterwards.'But I’m going to do my own thing and if that fight happens, it happens – and I’ll smash him.

'I want to be fighting at that top table now with elite fighters. I think I've proved I deserve to be there.'

Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn said: ‘Money talks. We’ve sold 10,000 for Kell Brook v Matthew Hatton. I could sell 40,000 tickets for Kell Brook against Amir Khan. It’s a pay-per-view fight.’

Khan's next fight is a rematch with Lamont Peterson, following his controversial defeat in Washington DC last December which cost Khan his  WBA and IBF light-welterweight titles.
