Reports that Sandy Hook Elementary School shooter Adam Lanza was a gamer have prompted a new round of discussion on whether violent video games can affect behavior in ways that other media can't. Now, US Senator Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) has floated a bill that would ask the National Academy of Sciences to study the effect of violent games on children. In a statement, Rockefeller criticized the belief that "violent video games are no more dangerous to young minds than classic literature or Saturday morning cartoons. Parents, pediatricians, and psychologists know better."
