Honda nearly triples full-year profit forecasts on stimulus steps

Honda Motor Co.
on Tuesday nearly tripled its group net and operating profit forecasts for the current business year through next March as government stimulus measures supported sales of its Insight hybrid and other fuel-efficient models in Japan and emerging countries like China.
Japan's second-largest automaker also strongly beat its earlier loss projections and reported profits both on the operating and net levels for the April to September period as it carried out aggressive cost-cutting efforts.
