Navy Welcomes Newest Honorary Captain

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 17, 2009) - The Canadian Navy is proud to welcome Mr. Craig Oliver as its newest Honorary Captain, as announced by Vice-Admiral Dean McFadden, Commander Maritime Command.

Mr. Oliver is a respected national and international leader in political journalism and also well known to Canadians as the chief Ottawa political correspondent for CTV.

Mr. Oliver is a highly influential citizen across Canada. He has received many awards and decorations, including Gemini awards, The Radio and Television News Directors Association President's Award, The Canadian Association of Broadcasters Golden Ribbon Award (highest honour in the Broadcasting Association), the Charles Lynch Award from the National Press Gallery, and an Honorary Ph.D. from the University of Regina.
