McLaren have confirmed that world champion Jenson Button has joined the team on a "multi-year" contract. The 29-year-old from Frome will partner Lewis Hamilton in the first pairing of two British world champions since Jim Clark and Graham Hill at Lotus in 1968.Button won the world title with the Brawn team, now rebranded as Mercedes, but leaves after the parties could not agree financial terms.Button: A good finishJenson Button was pleased to finish his championship-winning season on a high with a podium in Abu Dhabi. The Brawn driver finished third at the new Yas Marina circuit after enjoying an excellent battle with Mark Webber late in the race.He said: "This is a good way to finish the season. Now I am going to enjoy myself and celebrate what I have done. I just want to enjoy the moment."Hamilton: Such a shameLewis Hamilton admitted it was a "shame" he was forced to retire as he chased victory in Abu Dhabi. The McLaren driver led through the opening phase of the race, but was passed by Sebastian Vettel at the first stops and retired with a brake problem within a matter of laps.Hamilton said: "It was a shame that we couldn't show the performance we had throughout the weekend."Alonso thanks teamFernando Alonso paid tribute to the Renault staff after finishing 14th in his final race for the team before leaving for Ferrari. The double world champion was unable to make much headway after starting 15th because he was saddled with a heavy fuel load on a one-stop strategy. He said: "I would have liked to finish higher, but I would like to thank the team for everything we have achieved."Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Yas Marina: Race results 1 S Vettel Ger Red Bull 1h34m03.4s 2 M Webber Aus Red Bull 1:34:21.2 3 J Button GB Brawn 1:34:21.8 4 R B'chello Bra Brawn 1:34:26.1 5 N Heidfeld Ger BMW 1:34:29.6 6 K K'yashi Jpn Toyota 1:34:32.7 7 J Trulli Ita Toyota 1:34:37.7 8 S Buemi Swi T Rosso 1:34:44.7 9 N Rosberg Ger Williams 1:34:49.3 10 R Kubica Pol BMW 1:34:51.5 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Yas Marina: Race results 11 H Kovalainen Fin McLaren 1:34:56.2 12 K Raikkonen Fin Ferrari 1:34:57.7 13 K Nakajima Jpn Williams 1:35:03.2 14 F Alonso Spa Renault 1:35:13.0 15 V Liuzzi Ita F India 1:35:37.8 16 G Fisichella Ita Ferrari @ 1 lap 17 A Sutil Ger F India @ 1 lap 18 R Grosjean Fra Renault @ 1 lap 19 L Hamilton GB McLaren @ 35 laps 20 J A'suari Spa T Rosso @ 37 laps Drivers' championship Final positions 1 J Button GB Brawn GP 95pts 2 S Vettel Ger Red Bull 84 3 R Barrichello Bra Brawn GP 77 4 M Webber Aus Red Bull 69˝ 5 L Hamilton GB McLaren 49 6 K Raikkonen Fin Ferrari 48 7 N Rosberg Ger Williams 34˝ 8 J Trulli Ita Toyota 32˝ 9 F Alonso Spa Renault 26 10 T Glock Ger Toyota 24 Constructors' championship Final positions 1 Brawn GP 172pts 2 Red Bull 153˝ 3 McLaren 71 4 Ferrari 70 5 Toyota 59˝ 6 BMW Sauber 36 7 Williams 34˝ 8 Renault 26 9 Force India 13 10 Toro Rosso 8
