Source: KOB Albuquerque, NM - on October 14, 2012 history miles above new mexico. we're live from roswell with felix baumgartner's death defying free fall. see how the last day of balloon fiesta in albuquerque went. and we'll show you how a courageous pakastani girl shot by the taliban may have to leave her country for awhile. history was made and records were broken today over new mexico.. austrian skydiver felix baumgartner jumped from a balloon 128-thousand feet above roswell....and lived to talk about it. he becomes the first person to break the sound barrier in a free fall, wearing only a pressurized suit. erica zucco joins us live from our roswell bureau where she witnessed much of the action firsthand ... erica? it was absolutely a sight to see this morning... people packed an open field across from the launch site starting at 6 am this morning and we watched through telescopes and using that live stream... there were some delays but finally around 9-am crews started inflating the balloon ... then the balloon took off, it seemed to us like all of a sudden, and these years of preparation and months of tests became a reality for the red bull stratos team. as felix started rising all eyes were on that livestream, where we could see what he was experiencing... he was supposed to jump from 120,000 feet and actually went much higher... and at one pointe saw his visor fogging up and there was a little nailbiting.... it was kind of a waiting game for awhile there... and during that ascent some people hopped in their cars and chased the balloon east. finally all fingers were crossed as he hit the jump point and started making that descent... at first his legs were spinning wildly but then his movement became more controlled...at about 5 minutes into the jump, he popped his chute and finally touched down... making history right here in new mexico. roswell is reeling with excitement after this morning.... people i spent the morning with couldn't believe what they had the chance to witness. Now we know we can do it...we wanted him to be able to do this you know how there's very few times you remember where you were at that point in time and it never goes away?
