our green chile. so a recall of bueno frozen green chile was big news this week. then, people began reaching out to our newsroom... with some strange claims about what they've heard is happening to the recalled chile. we put jen samp on a mission to set the record straight. a rumor can be devastating for a business. and this rumor is a whopper of a lie. so we wanted to clear the air and restore faith in one of our favorite foods. an urban myth or rumor can really hurt a business. we saw it in the 90's when snapple had to attack rumors it supported the k-k-k. proctor and gamble changed its logo to stop rumors about satanic ties. and mountain dew sales took a hit when rumor spread that the dye in the soda reduced male fertility. the latest target hits home... bueno foods of new mexico. bueno recently recalled its frozen non-ready-to-eat green chile due to the possibility of low levels of listeria bacteria. but viewers have been reaching out to kob eyewitness news four about rumors that the recalled chile is being cooked and resold. that is simply not true. rumors are rumors everybody has rumors so I don't believe those. the family owned business released a statement saying bueno foods does not respond to rumors. However, returning products is part of recall protocol per Food and Drug Administration guidelines. ALL RETURNED product from grocery store shelves is destroyed. these untrue rumors are not swaying new mexicans who support their local business. I use bueno foods and I stand by them I think its pretty good its fantastic and I use it in our green chili enchiladas and they're pretty good. bueno wants you ... and everyone who loves green chile to know... that all f-d-a rules are being followed to the letter. and they're working hard to get more green chile back on store shelves. back to you.
