david flash flooding around the ozarks leaves some drivers stranded in high water. good evening and thanks for joining us -- i'm david oliver. we begin with weather coverage.... the national weather service issued a flash flood warning this evening for greene county. the warning ended at 9... but nearly two inches of rainfall would submerge vehicles like the ones you see here on chestnut expressway -- and keep water rescue teams busy until the weather cleared up. david: "heritage not hate" was the rally cry tonight for dozens of people who paraded down highway 76 in branson with confederate flags. our nick thompson attended the rally this evening -- which was one of dozens of similar events organized around the country today, nick? nick: the confederate flag has long been a controversial symbol in american history, and that controversy has been fueled by photos of 21-year-old dylan roof, the charleston shooting suspect, posing next to the flag. dylan kaster of branson says he brought together dozens of people from southern missouri and northern arkansas today to celebrate what the flag means to them. amid the latest controversy, south carolina and alabama have taken steps to remove the flag from their state capitol grounds and several retailers like wal-mart have pledged to quit selling the flag and related merchandise. kaster says while the flag has been used as a symbol of racism and hatred by some, he hopes the government preserves the right to fly the flag. organizers note the flag we often see today was not the official flag of the confederacy, it was a battle flag. they say the red represents bloodshed and the blue represents valor, and these are american values that should be remembered. dylan kaster/confederate flag supporter: "you know them people shouldn't be forgotten about whether what the war was about. the american flag has a lot of war history behind it and you know we don't want to forget them. so why forget about these people that fought in the confederate war." josh cantrell/confederate flag supporter: "if we wanna fly our flags high and pride let's do it. if they want to fly their gay pride flags high and pride let them do it. it's what they believe in and this is what we believe in." freddie jackson/confederate flag supporter: "past, past.....don't worry about none of that stuff man. as long as you know what it means, what it stands for for you, nothing else matters man, nothing else counts." nick: the confederate battle flag has thirteen stars, and two represent missouri and kentucky, even though those states did not secede from the union. south carolina lawmakers are expected to debate tomorrow whether to remove the flag from their
