"Transformers: Prime Wars" Trilogy Series In The Works

Duration: 00:49s - Published: < > Embed
News video: Transformers: Combiner Wars was a big original webseries hit for Hasbro and Machinima. Combining an alternate take on the classic “Generation 1″ Transformers mythos with slick new animation and a mix of new and fan-favorite characters, including Optimus Prime and the first ever all-female (and fan-designed) Combiner, Victorion. The series’ success has translated into another upcoming series of Transformer stories, as Machinima has recently revealed plans for two more chapters in what has become known as The Prime Wars Trilogy. The plot of the second series, Titans Return, is being kept largely under wraps for now (as with the third series, currently titled Power of The Primes) but it is believed to involve new versions of larger-scale robots in the Transformers franchise — with reference to “new heights” and scale potentially teasing the return of Metroplex, Trypticon, or Fortress Maximus (all of whom transformed into entire cities) or even Unicron, who is a planet. In some Transformers continuities, Planet Cybertron itself is sometimes depicted as a dormant Transformer named Primus. From the official Press Release via Machinima: “November 29, 2016 – Following the massive worldwide interest in Transformers: Combiner Wars, Machinima, the first Many2Many programming service focused on fandom and gamer culture, and Hasbro, Inc. (NASDAQ:HAS), a global play and entertainment company, announced today that they will join forces to develop Titans Return and Power of the Primes, the final two installments of the animated Prime Wars trilogy. Since launching the trilogy’s first installment in August 2016, Transformers: Combiner Wars, has garnered more than 120 million global views on a wide variety of platforms, including go90 (United States), SkyQ (U.K.), AMC Iberia (Spain and Portugal), Sohu (China), and YouTube (rest of world).” The Machinima/Hasbro partnership has been a tremendous success for both companies so far, with Machinima posting big ratings for their online debut of Combiner Wars and the series itself earning some of the most positive reviews a Transformers-related narrative project has garnered in years. Machinima CEO Chad Gutstein recently said: “The global fan base has really embraced this vision of the Transformers, and we are thrilled to be working closely with Hasbro developing the next two installments of the series.” A release date has not yet been announced for the two new entries in the Prime Wars Trilogy. For those who missed it, the first season of Transformers: Combiner Wars can be viewed in its entirety online by going here.
