Transcript: Natalie Portman Says Ashton Kutcher Earned Three Times More For 'No Strings Attached'

Natalie Portman discusses the well-known pay gap between men and women in Hollywood, but this time she’s provided a real figure to put it in perspective.

The Academy Award winning actress claims that her former co-star, Ashton Kutcher, received three times as much money for their roles in the 2011 rom-com, “No Strings Attached.” Which seems quite unfair, considering they share the movie poster together.

Portman tells Marie Claire magazine “We get paid a lot, so it’s hard to complain, but the disparity is crazy.” Keep in mind, Portman’s role in this film was released after her award winning performance in Black Swan… Last time anyone checked, as loveable as Ashton Kutcher is, he isn’t exactly an Oscar Winner.

Portman tells the magazine, “We just have a clear issue with women not having opportunities…” and women need to “Be part of the solution, not perpetuating the problem.” Thankfully, Hollywood is now under a lot of pressure to pay equally and mend the wage gap.
