Special Counsel Robert Mueller ‘s investigators met with the British spy who provided a dossier alleging that Russia aided President Trump’s campaign last summer.
According to CNN, the FBI and U.S. intelligence community took the former MI-6 officer Christopher Steele’s information much more seriously than we thought.
Cnn reports because of what was in the dossier The agencies kept the information out of a publicly released intelligence report on Russia’s meddling released in January.
CNN says they did this so as to not expose which parts of the dossier had been corroborated.
The dossier is a collection of memos, that were said to be part of political opposition research on Trump.
It’s a strike against Trump who has repeatedly said that the dossier was fake, even telling the New York Times it was “totally made-up stuff”.
When former FBI-director James Comey personally briefed the president on the allegations, Trump believed it to be an attempt to have leverage over the him, according to the New York Times.
Senate Intelligence Committee chairman, Richard Burr, was frustrated in early October after Steele rejected efforts to meet with his committee.
