Transcript: Be Encouraged 11/10/17

>>ashley: it is a privilege and a pleasure to have local author edna matthews with us here with tips to be encouraged. thank you edna for joining us. >> it's my pleasure. thank you. >>ashley: what are we talking about today? >> today is that we would talk about hope. >>ashley: that's great. >> the power of hope, hope is that gift that comes directly from the heart. so often times, sometimes we get lost with our hope. circumstances and so forth. and yet at the same time it's because the things that we can't see. the bible tells us it is the faith and evidence of what we don't see. so we really are going to talk about some steps. that really help us stay focused with our hope. that is the embodiment of our just talking earlier about in every stage of life we all have various levels of dreams and visions and hope. things that we want to accomplish. sometimes it can be very personal and other times it can be many different areas of our life. again, we talked about the we lose hope because we lose focus on that thing we are targeting that we are focused on our target, we lose the target. then when we lose our target, we are then automatically have this lack of hope that is inside of us. so we bring a lack of hope again of course it is the distractions that come. we get off track, when we get off track we then have a tendency to become negative, depressed, just don't accomplish what it is that is inside of us. everyone has a passion and we should be really excited about time out again looking inside because hope comes from within side of our heart instead of our spirit, it's the spirit our self. so we have to take time out and look inside, once we look inside and step away from all said this several times but step away from all the negativity of people, the negative thinking. the negative news, all of those many different negatives that we just have to step back from. renewing our focus and our focus is our where our hope is embedded in. so that's necessary to do. then of course we're going to work on attitude. the positive attitude. there is no substitute for a positive attitude. we can't always control everything that happens to us, some things in life just happen. but we can control our attitude, we can control how we think, we can control what we say and the things we say to ourselves. we can affirm ourselves. i talk a lot about that in the self reflection chapters of the book. it certainly serves as a guide. we hope to navigate us back to the course that we just naturally get knocked off of. we all need to be navigated back for from time to time. so that positive attitude is central. then we have to step talk, we don't always have to go to a counselor or therapist. we can go within and find that encouragement from within. >>ashley: and talking to yourself. where can someone get your book? >> you can get my book in fact i can you can reach me on facebook.
