Dangerous smog blanketed Sonipat in India’s Haryana state reducing visibility to nearly zero.
Sonipat’s OP Jindal University advised students on November 7 not to leave the campus due to the smog and increased traffic accidents caused by the low visibility.
Students at the school complained of smog filling the corridors, according to Times of India.
The smog, which has become a yearly occurrence, is caused by illegal crop burning in the farm states surrounding New Delhi, vehicle exhaust emissions in a city with limited public transport and swirling construction dust, according to Reuters. Credit: Instagram/arryamann via Storyful.
