The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is an initiative of the second Donald Trump administration in the United States. Established by an executive order on January 20, 2025, its stated purpose is "modernizing federal technology and software to maximize governmental efficiency and productivity". Its actions have included: organizing mass layoffs of federal workers; accessing computer systems and personal data; and cutting funding related to DEI programs, climate change initiatives, and scientific research in health and other fields. Major federal agencies targeted by DOGE have included the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), Department of Education, and Social Security Administration.
