Australia's coronavirus cases surge past 1000 as authorities try to slow virus

NSW recorded 83 new cases of COVID-19 overnight, while a further 51 cases have been confirmed in Victoria, 37 in Queensland, 17 in South Australia and 26 in Western Australia.
