From the Archives, 1999: Plugger locks up record as Swans sink Pies

In one of the most famous moments in VFL/AFL history, Tony ‘Plugger’ Lockett passed Collingwood icon Gordon Coventry’s all-time leading goal-kicking mark of 1299, which had stood since 1937. After the clash ‘Plugger’ said “it just floated through”, adding “if you’re going to duff it, you might as well duff it straight”.
