Tesla Aren't Developing a Time Machine. Yet.

Tesla Aren't Developing a Time Machine. ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ’ป Alice Monroe

There’s one or two faces you really can’t seem to escape in the news these days, and one of them is Elon Musk. Musk is an entrepreneur and CEO tour de force – love him or find him a little unorthodox, he has claimed headlines in recent months both for his continued boundary-pushing in terms of technological ambition and his perceived conduct. So much so that, in the same week he announced the first ‘space tourist’ for his SpaceX firm’s proposals for a private shuttle, he found a lawsuit land on his doorstep from someone he labelled ‘pedo guy’ via Twitter. Yes, it’s a strange world we live in, and Musk puts himself forward as one to make big changes to it.

Tesla, Musk’s landmark motor company, has faced its own controversies in the past year, with shareholders awaiting news on profits and with Musk having taken a well-publicized call with Wall Street reps earlier this year that were eye-opening to say the least. Despite Tesla’s supposed issues in terms of production here and labor law allegations there, Musk has continued to innovate against the odds. In fact, as part of a court filing surrounding unionizing complaints made against Tesla, Jalopnik reports that a very telling piece of wording – while clearly a humorous comment - suggests where Musk’s creativity may be heading to next.

Part of the wording, according to reports, states ‘Tesla is one of the world’s most innovative companies, but has not yet developed a time machine that the General Counsel demands’. While it may be easy to read this line as something of a curt response, it hasn’t stopped some chatter from occurring online. Were this attributed to anyone but Musk, perhaps nothing more would have been thought of it – but yes, we may well be considering whether or not Tesla are considering time machines.

Is it too far-fetched for us to expect Musk to start thinking about adding flux capacitors to his Model 3s? He did, after all, send a Roadster and a dummy into space – and is certain that he’ll have a team of people ready to go to Mars in the next few years. He’s nothing if not ambitious – and if he thinks he can be the man to take us all back in time, he will most certainly try his best. For now, however, it’s perhaps best not to read into what is clearly a joke… right?
