Intel Corp. sold its smartphone modem chip business to Apple Inc. in July, but in a new court filing said it did so reluctantly and at a “multi-billion dollar loss” as a result of actions by rival Qualcomm Inc. Santa Clara-based Intel filed an amicus brief on Nov. 29, supporting the Federal Trade Commission in its antitrust case against San Diego-based Qualcomm and opposing its appeal.
