Red River Resources Limited (ASX:RVR) has confirmed the appointment of a new general manager (GM) for its Thalanga Operations in North Queensland in Randy McMahon. McMahon will take over from Karl Spaleck, who is moving to Red River’s Hillgrove Gold project in New South Wales as part of its restart strategy for 2020. Red River managing director Mel Palancian said: “We are pleased to announce the appointment of Randy McMahon as Red River’s new Thalanga GM. “Randy will be an outstanding GM at Thalanga with his skills, knowledge and experience. “With Randy’s appointment, current Thalanga GM Karl Spaleck, will transfer to Red River’s Hillgrove Gold Project in NSW where we look forward to commencing gold production later this year. “I’d like to thanks Karl for his immense contribution at Thalanga over the past 5 years.” Red River recently acquired the high-grade Hillgrove Gold-Antimony Project in New South Wales, which will enable it to build a multi-asset operating business focused on base and precious metals. Operational experience McMahon has more than 35 years of underground operational and management experience in the global mining industry with his most recent role with DMC Mining Services (Ontario, Canada) as vice president (operations). Prior to this, he held senior positions including: Redpath Global Mining Services Project Manager at Rio Tinto Limited’s (ASX:RIO) Oyu Tolgoi Mine, Mongolia Nyrstar NV (EBR:NYR) General Manager at the Myra Falls Mine, Canada Redpath Australia Project Manager at South32 Ltd’s (ASX:S32) Cannington Mine, and BNL (Barrick Gold Corp (TSE:ABX): 47.5% and ZIJIN (SHA:601899): 47.5%)) and Mineral Resource Enga Limited’s (5%) Porgera JV as Underground manager/surface and underground mining manager in PNG
