When Gov. Gavin Newsom reset California's Covid-19 color-coded classification system on Monday, he determined that most of the Bay Area would be in the most-stringent purple tier. With the exception of San Mateo, San Francisco and Marin counties, which remain in the less-restrictive red tier, the other Bay Area counties are all now purple.
