Composer Adams delivers Nativity oratorio through the eyes of a modern woman

Pulitzer Prize-winning composer John Adams wrote his oratorio, “El Niño,” in 2000, as a celebration for the new millennium. Adams had always wanted to write his own “Messiah.” This, though, retells the Nativity story from a female’s perspective. It is multilayered and multicultural.
