
Stock market today: Asian shares are mixed as Bank of Japan keeps its monetary policy unchanged
Asian shares are mixed after a seven-week winning streak on Wall Street cooled. U.S. futures were flat and oil prices edged higher. The dollar gained against the yen after the Bank of Japan kept its ultra-lax monetary policy unchanged, as expected. On Monday, the S&P 500 added 0.5% and the Dow was little changed. The Nasdaq composite rose 0.6%. Worries about attacks in the Red Sea have led oil and natural gas giant BP and other companies to halt shipments along that major trade route. U.S. Steel soared after it agreed to be acquired by Japan's Nippon Steel.
