This week the Federal Reserve is likely to cut its main interest rate for the first time in more than four years. It’s a momentous move, but savers have been feeling the squeeze for months. This week, savers buying a 10-year Treasury note got a yield that was a full percentage point less than they would have as recently as April. Financial markets and banks try to get ahead of he Fed's moves. The big question for savers going forward is how much lower rates will continue to go.
