This Big Star Is Leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe – What Does It Mean for Their Character?

This Big Star Is Leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe – What Does It Mean for Their Character?by

Fair warning to all Marvel movie fans – do not read on if you are particularly interested in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War – as some of this story may offer potential spoilers as to what could happen in the forthcoming movie.

With that warning out of the way, it’s time to consider what could possibly happen to one of the biggest stars and heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – as it seems that Chris Evans, aka Captain America, is keen to bow out one he’s finished up on Avengers 4 – that’s the next movie featuring the main league of heroes after Infinity War. The news comes as tension mounts for the third Avengers movie, set to feature more characters crossing over from more Marvel movies than ever before – this time, Peter Parker and the Guardians of the Galaxy are getting involved – and while the hype for the next movie is building and building, the news that Evans is retiring as Steve Rogers will come as a major blow for many MCU watchers.

Evans has eluded to the fact that Avengers 4 may well be his last, advising, “You want to get off the train before they push you off” to the New York Times. What could this possibly mean for the future of Captain America and the Avengers? With speculation rife as to which characters will make it out of Infinity War alive – with some rumors circulating that there will be big and permanent death in the movie – it seems that Cap may be safe, at least until the next movie. This will come as no solace to anyone, however, as it makes Thor, Iron Man, Hulk and Doctor Strange’s positions all the more shaky – with the latter on particularly wobbly ground after it emerged that star Benedict Cumberbatch was unsure of which projects would be opening up in future.

The stars of the MCU have, of course, been promoting what promises to be the biggest movie in the extended universe bar none – but at the same time, they seem to be extraordinarily tight-lipped. Will we already be seeing the last of T’Challa, aka Black Panther, after his incredible box office run earlier this year? Who’s to say – we have round about a month left to speculate – stay protected from spoilers, everyone – and look for our review!
