It’s been a bit of a dramatic week on the entertainment front – not only has E3 kicked off in a big way to showcase some of the most interesting videogame software and hardware heading our way in the next 12 months, but we’ve also been thrown a bit of a curveball with regard to Fox’s deal with either Comcast or Disney – and sticking to the movie side of things, it seems that reported footage regarding the next Avengers movie has debuted at CineEurope midweek. Reports initially teased that guests were already able to see footage from what will be the final part of the Infinity War saga – and which will allegedly see a huge change in character personnel – however, it’s since emerged that footage shown was behind-the-scenes and interview material. However, this hasn’t made it any less interesting – far from it.
It’s been reported that interview footage with Marvel Studios mogul Kevin Feige has revealed that Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel is being lined up as the new ‘face’ of the MCU. This means that the Avengers as we know them may well change for good after the events of the as-yet untitled Avengers 4, due out at some point during next year – and still shrouded in secrecy after the explosive events of Infinity War (which those in the know are trying their hardest not to spoil). What will this mean for characters such as Tony Stark (Iron Man), Steve Rogers (Captain America) and Bruce Banner (Hulk)? We already know that Chris Evans, who portrays Rogers, is thought to be bowing out after the next movie – which means that we could be looking at a completely new slate for Phase Four of the MCU. This is no bad thing – but who will be joining Captain Marvel along for the ride?
▶ Marvel Universe Will Soon Have A New Leader
Captain Marvel is perhaps one of the most-teased MCU heroes of all-time – so much hype surrounds her debut, yet she is yet to officially appear on-screen. It had previously been suggested that she would be debuting in Infinity War – but this was changed in order to save her impact on the series for her own standalone movie, set in the 1990s, and seemingly for Avengers 4. Without giving any major Infinity War spoilers away, fans are eagerly awaiting Captain Marvel for a number of reasons – and hopefully it won’t be too long before she hits the big screen.
