Here at One News Page, we’re as sensitive to spoilers as you are – so if you want to avoid any discussion of either Avengers: Infinity War or its forthcoming sequel next year, stop reading immediately – you have been warned!
The ending to Avengers: Infinity War – which we’ve avoided discussing publicly here for months now – was a downer unlike any other – and ultimately, viewers were left frothing at the mouth in anticipation of what could happen to Marvel’s band of heroes in the next instalment. Thanos, ultimately, won – and we lost a ton of big names in the bargain – and despite there being future movies planned for the likes of Spider-Man and Black Panther, official Marvel sources have been very keen to emphasise that the fates of various heroes affected at the end of the movie are indeed real. So where does this leave things for Avengers 4?
If recent revelations are to be believed, it’ll be the end of an era. A cinematographer for both Infinity War and Captain America Civil War listed the next Avengers movie on his online resume, seemingly giving away the title – and it’s one that some fans have been predicting for some time. It’s also one which is alluded to by Doctor Strange in Infinity War. “We’re in the end game,” he says to Tony Stark amid one of the tensest moments of the last picture. It’s this line that seems to have fed into the supposed title of Avengers 4 – it’s thought to be called Avengers: End Game, and if reports from Marvel bosses are to be believed, it’ll be something of a reset button for the Avengers franchise as a whole.

Word has been rife with regard to where the Marvel Cinematic Universe will head next, and with it seeming likely that Captain Marvel will become the brand’s new figurehead and face, we could be looking at a whole new strand leading the way for the MCU. As of the time of writing, we have around nine months to find out exactly what happened to half of the heroes impacted by Infinity War – and quite how Captain Marvel will stand to help reverse the trauma and the tragedy. Infinity War has broken numerous box office records and became only the third movie in three years to claim a five star rating from One News Page – meaning it has mighty boots to fill indeed.
