Philip Turle: UK lawmakers face complicated choices

France 24 Tuesday, 12 March 2019
British Prime Minister Theresa May warned lawmakers that Britain may end up not leaving the EU if they vote against the deal she has agreed with Brussels later on Tuesday. "If this vote is not passed tonight, if this deal is not passed, then Brexit could be lost," May told parliament. "The danger for those of us who want to deliver, to have faith in the British public and deliver on their vote for Brexit, is that if this vote is not passed tonight, if this deal is not passed, then Brexit could be lost," she said. May, her voice reduced to a raw whisper after days of frantic Brexit diplomacy, spoke as the House of Commons began debating the deal before a vote, dubbed a “meaningful vote” later Tuesday.
