Guatemala Backs Out Of UN Anti-Corruption Body, Tells Staff To Leave CountryAfter Guatemalan authorities held a member of the United Nations-sponsored anti-corruption commission in Guatemala City's airport on Sunday, Guatemalan President Jimmy Morales announced on Monday it would be withdrawing from the International Commission Against Impunity in Guatemala, according to Al Jazeera. Morales said the commission commonly known as CICIG was polarizing Guatemala and creating security risks, violating human rights, and was allied with "terrorists."
