At Least Ten Killed After Two Cargo Ships Catch Fire In Kerch Strait Near Crimea
Monday, 21 January 2019 () Russia's transport ministry said at least ten crew members were found dead and 14 were rescued on Monday after two ships caught fire in the Kerch Strait off the coast of Crimea, according to BBC News. A rescue operation was still underway since several crew members started jumping into the icy waters to try and escape the blaze which likely broke out during a ship-to-ship fuel transfer. Both ships, the Candy and Maestro, were flying under the Tanzanian flag and had a total of 31 crew members, including 16 who were Turkish citizens and 15 from India.
