Michael Avenatti Charged Over Nike Extortion Attempt By New York Federal Prosecutors
Monday, 25 March 2019 Federal prosecutors in Manhattan announced they were charging lawyer Michael Avenatti for attempting to extort more than $20 million from Nike, according to The Washington Post. The criminal complaint alleges Avenatti met with an attorney for Nike earlier this month and threatened to release damaging information about the company if they did not pay Avenatti and unnamed co-conspirator millions of dollars.
