Macedonia's pro-Western candidate, Stevo Pendarovski, and his main rival Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova will head to a presidential runoff election after Sunday's vote had a record low turnout which prevented either from winning the election outright, according to The Guardian. The presidential vote was deeply affected by the recent change of the country's name under a historic deal with Greece. The name change to North Macedonia helped end a decades-old dispute with its neighbor over an implied territorial claim on its northern province which is also called Macedonia.
