Thai Parliament Votes To Keep Prayuth Chan-ocha In Power As Prime MinisterThailand's two houses of Parliament voted to keep Prayuth Chan-ocha in power on Wednesday, five years after he removed an elected government in a military coup, according to The Straits Times. Prayuth easily reached the 375-vote threshold needed to win the position since Thailand's prime minister is chosen in a joint vote of the 500-seat House of Representatives and the 250-seat Senate, which is appointed by the military junta. Even though the vote officially restored civilian rule to Thailand's Parliament, the 65-year-old general has strong links to the military and was nominated by the military-backed coalition led by the Palang Pracharath Party.
