Boris Johnson today took another step closer to 10 Downing Street with an emphatic victory in the fourth round of MPs' votes at Westminster, as home secretary Sajid Javid was eliminated from the contest. Mr Johnson's tally of 157 votes was well ahead of his nearest rival, environment secretary Michael Gove on 61, who overtook Jeremy Hunt on 59. The former London mayor took more votes than all of his opponents combined. The three remaining contenders in the race to replace Theresa May now go forward to a final MPs' vote on Thursday afternoon to select the shortlist of two from which the new Tory leader will be chosen by an estimated 160,000 party members next month.
