Foxconn picks chip-unit head for chairman, as Gou aims highTAIPEI--Foxconn chose chip-unit boss Liu Young-way as chairman of the world's biggest electronics contract manufacturer to succeed Terry Gou, who is preparing to contest Taiwan's presidential elections next year. Liu was tipped to take over from Gou, who founded Foxconn 45 years ago and had told Reuters in April that he planned to step down to pave the way for younger talent to move up the ranks of the Apple Inc. supplier. The change of leadership comes at a delicate time for Foxconn, which has big factories in China, a large roster of U.S. clients and is having to navigate a tricky path amid a trade war between Washington and Beijing.
