A cybersquatting case brought by the National Hockey League against the owner of NHL.cc, the country code for Cocos Islands, was recently decided in favor of the league, Domain Name Wire reported Wednesday. The .cc country code is generally used as generic domain extension, the report said. The Chinese man who registered the domain claimed he hadn’t heard of the NHL when he registered the name, noting it is too hot to play ice hockey in Zhengzhou, China and most people in China weren’t aware of the sport until 2015, Domain Name Wire reported.
